Join us to hear a unique legal and regulatory perspective from an attorney who became a real estate investor and landlord.  Attorney Chris Barker is a former litigation attorney turned landlord, and he always gives us his unique perspective on the rental housing business and practical lessons he’s learned along the way.  Chris speaks from a standpoint of his years of practical experience in the rental housing business, and also relies on his many years in the courtroom to solve the many tenant issues that have come up along the way during his tenure as a mid-size rental property owner.

Chris Barker, Esq.

Chris Barker is an attorney and real estate investor.  Before focusing on real estate full time, Chris was a litigator at some of the nation's top law firms.  Most recently, he was Of Counsel at Quinn Emanuel Urquhart & Sulivan, where he represented global investment firms, pension funds, and banks in disputes regarding complex financial instruments.  Chris used his attorney earnings to acquire over 40 rental units in Los Angeles, which he owns and operates.  His company, Yorkshire Realty, provides legal, property management, brokerage, and investment services for select clients.

Daniel Yukelson is currently the Executive Director of The Apartment Association of Greater Los Angeles (AAGLA).  As Certified Public Accountant, Yukelson began his career at Ernst & Young, the global accounting firm, and since then had served in senior financial roles principally as Chief Financial Officer for various public, private and start-up companies.  Prior to joining AAGLA, Yukelson served for 12 years as Chief Financial Officer for Premiere Radio Networks, now a subsidiary of I-Heart Media, and then 3 years as Chief Financial Officer for Oasis West Realty, the owner of the Beverly Hilton and Waldorf Astoria Beverly Hills where he was involved with the development and construction of the Waldorf.  Yukelson also served for 6 years as a Planning Commissioner and for 3 years as a Public Works Commissioner for the City of Beverly Hills.
