OAKDALE, Calif. —Nineteen Chihuahuas rescued from a Riverbank apartment are now at a shelter and ready for adoption.
The tiny dogs were living in “awful” conditions at a two-bedroom apartment, according to the Stanislaus County Sheriff’s Department. Deputies assisted an Oakdale animal control officer in the Tuesday rescue.
The dogs were then taken to the Oakdale Animal Shelter to be checked out by a veterinarian.
So far, the dogs appear to be in good health, officials say. The owner volunteered to give them up to animal control.
