Join us to learn more from someone on the “inside” about George Gascón’s failed policies and what he and other Deputy D.A.’s are doing to fix them and turn back the tide on crime.
As soon as he was sworn into office, District Attorney George Gascón began issuing directives to his prosecutors, instructing them to go soft on crime, coddle criminals, and trample upon the dignity and rights of crime victims. District Attorney George Gascón’s critics say his progressive approach to the justice system is emboldening people to commit crimes. Under George Gascón’s administration, prosecutors in the District Attorneys’ office are subjected to the following progressive policies:
- Prohibitions from requesting bail in most cases, including child abuse and domestic violence, regardless of criminal history.
- The DA’s office now treats repeat violent offenders as first-time offenders, including murder, rape, robbery, kidnapping, and sex offenses. The policy is retroactive.
- George Gascón prohibits his prosecutors from filing sentencing enhancements such as great bodily injury, gang involvement, major narcotics trafficking, gun use, and if the offender is on probation or out on parole.
- No sentence of life without the possibility of parole may be given, regardless of the severity of the crime.
The Los Angeles County District Attorney's office no longer prosecutes these crimes:
-
-
- Trespassing
- Criminal threats
- Resisting arrest
- Disturbing the peace
- Driving without a license
- Driving on a suspended license
- Drug and paraphernalia possession
- Minor in possession of alcohol
- Drinking in public
- Under the influence of a controlled substance
- Public intoxication
- Loitering
- Loitering to commit prostitution
