This informative session will cover the basics of Fair Housing rules starting with the history behind Fair Housing Act and offers many simple, practical tips to help any property owner avoid costly mistakes.  You will learn definitions, the differences between Federal and State law, what are protected classes, and how Fair Housing is enforced.

  • Thursday, April 15, 2021 – “Fair Housing vs. Fear Housing

During this informative session we will conduct in-depth reviews of real Fair Housing situation and the ramifications of those situations faced by property owners and managers.  Angel will share with you the details and settlements covering a wide array of Fair Housing complaints. You will learn Fair Housing by studying “real world” situations.  This session will teach you best practices on how to avoid costly complaints.

  • Wednesday, April 21, 2021 – “Understanding Accommodations and Modifications

What should YOU do if your tenant asks you to install a ramp or handrails for stairs, or a hand grip in the shower?   This area of Fair Housing is easily the most understood and is the area where the most complaints are filed.  Angel will take you through several likely and real-world situations, step by step, including how to respond, document and necessary paperwork for each type of situation to give you a complete understanding of the correct processes to follow.

  • Thursday, April 29, 2021 –“Fair Housing: The Complete Application Process

Long gone are the days of accepting numerous rental applications and then "picking" the one you like best. This session will go through the complete application process, from advertising the unit to application to selection of a new tenant, we will highlight the areas of Fair Housing that are inadvertently most often violated.
