The City Council is about to enact a rental registry at the cost of hundreds of thousands of dollars. This will be a fee-funded program that will collect the names of all residents, renters and cosigners and all the rental contracts. The only cities that maintain these databases are those with draconian rent control programs like Measure M. This registry is a Trojan Horse and a back door implementation of a proposal that was rejected by a 2-to-1 margin at the ballot. It is not the recall of Glover and Krohn that is undemocratic. It is the subversion of the clearly expressed will of the voters by these councilmen who lack a plurality of voter support.
