“About four years ago, my wife and I decided to sell our single-family home. We had a house on South Roxbury Drive that we lived in for about 13 years. Our daughters had grown up and moved out of the house for college, and my wife and I decided that we wanted to downsize. We made a decision to buy a four-unit apartment building in Beverly Hills on Olympic Boulevard, where we could live in one of the units and then have some of our housing costs subsidized by our rent income. Not long after I purchased this building came the emergency Rent Stabilization Ordinance (RSO).”
